Microsoft has been making a number of what I would consider to be "questionable" choices lately as pertains to its Windows 10 operating system.  This latest one really steams my knickers though!

With no notification to you, the valued customer, Microsoft has been recording everything you type.  Microsoft says the feature tracks "your typing and handwriting info to improve typing and writing services”.  What makes this move truly odious in my opinion is that this function is turned on by default. You have to manually disable it to prevent this from happening.

Here's how to DISABLE this function, luckily its quick & easy:

Start Menu > Settings > Privacy

Then turn off the option called "Send Microsoft info about how i write..."

Key-logging, or the recording of every keypress is a time-honored tool of the hacking trade as it records every key you press, including passwords, and then sends that data to a remote server somewhere so hackers can sift through it and tease out login data, credit card info, or sensitive information from documents or emails.

Just to level the playing field a bit, here's one for the Mac users out there:

If you use Spotlight to search for files and applications on your Mac you should really go to System Preferences > Spotlight and uncheck "Bing Web Searches" as well as "Allow Spotlight Suggestions..." as both of these options take your search queries and send them out to Apple and beyond.
